Consistent and commonsense use of the run game. My problem w/ the Bears is that they are always hiring the "genius" offensive mind who then has to prove they're a genius instead of just playing basic football. Trestman, Nagy, Waldron. They all put "being cute" above basic, sound game play.
Better play design and a coherent strategy through the game plan each week so plays build upon each other so you can run variations to keep D guessing.
Simpler calls for Caleb at the line of scrimmage. And running plays to get DJ and Cole the ball. They can make people miss and get YAC to build confidence for Caleb to take some shots.
Better play design, that schemes someone open, particularly using the middle of the field more. With the skill players on this team, you should be able to have someone underneath on most plays.
Use the middle of the field more. Quick plants where the recievers can catch the ball and get up field. I'm so tired of all these bubble screens one or 2 yards from line of scrimmage
Nate said it best. Get play calls which build off each other.
Get the players working for each other.
Throw out half the playbook and simplify for Caleb.
Tie between Caleb’s aggression and putting the WRs in roles that make sense for their skillsets/abilities. I am very worried that Flus still being the HC will neuter the chances of the first part working- I don’t think that was Waldron’s doing. It’s Flus’ 200 Club, not Shane’s.
I agree, JF1 was more aggressive coming out then lame as the season went on and now Caleb seems to be on the same path. The “protect the ball” mentality seems over emphasized.
Yeah. Really unfortunate, especially when you consider he barely threw any INTs in college. Any turnover issues he had were fumbles, not INTs. He didn’t need to have his passing reined in at all.
Simplify things for Caleb (less control on changing protection at LOS), get Cole Kmet more involved, reduced snap count for Keenan Allen, more under center play calls (improves run game and opens things up in play-action game). Thats just for starters and then build from there. 🙏
