This! When I had to have my wisdom teeth taken out, the dentist told me it was a medical issue and dental insurance wouldn’t pay for it, and my medical said it was dental and that my dental insurance should pay for it.
I have never understood why dental and vision are separate from health. It doesn’t make sense when you think of how not taking care of these areas of the body can lead to other health problems.
That’s certainly true bc we now understand that poor dental hygiene and lack of proactive dental care can lead rapidly to onset of various life threatening illnesses. Dental care is healthcare.
It’s just another insane failure in our broken healthcare system. Everything preventative should be free. Keep people healthy and you pay less overall.
To be fair, insurance companies don’t sell treatments. More treatment actually =less $$ for them. Problem is there is no short-term ROI on many preventative treatments. Person will probably have different insurance in 3 years, so why help prevent diabetes, cancer, etc if someone else is paying?
You are aware that under ACA, preventative care is excluded from deductible.
Out of the preventative services listed on your healthcare plan and, see above, excluded from deductible, how many did you use?
Overall, it's hard to talk American consumer into using preventative services.
