That's because that accolade belongs to the building I visited this morning - Goldin Finance 117 - which, at 597m/1,957 ft, holds the rather unfortunate record as the World's tallest unfinished building.

That was a decade ago, & it has yet to restart.
The surrounding structures are beginning to rust; the branding on the walls is crumbling. Hard to know what comes next.
Perhaps its greatest legacy is that its failure helped bring about new building laws in China in 2020 to prevent any more huge, empty white elephants filling the skylines of the outskirts of cities.
So that it houses two huge skyscrapers with different fortunes feels quite fitting for this city that rarely fits in.
