i always knew that the free to play/new player experience in destiny was lacking, but it was very interesting seeing it first hand when i guided a friend through the game today (who had never played d2 before). not sure i have much new to offer to that conversation, but maybe i'll make a video on it

In my own experience dealing with new players, the game is simply overwhelming them with systems and menus. Ironically their guardian rank system being one of them.
They could call it “Destiny 2: Red War”. It would allow people to (re)play the original campaign.
There is certainly an investment, but it wouldn’t be that “insane”. It would mostly be:
- resources invested by engineers from operations team to re-learn how to deploy the older stack
- and perhaps in the long run some maintenance cost for any egregious bugs that show up
Most notably, after the player completes the first Beyond Light mission and flies his Jumpship to the tower, they should fly straight into the Homecoming mission and start the Red War campaign.
It’s a nice sentiment, but hurts the onboarding experience in the long run imo
You have to question though “how much is to much information?”
I am doing the same at the moment with a friend who has given up on Destiny but started playing Elite Dangerous!
