BC spent $450M last summer importing electricity because of drought. If we spent that much on rooftop solar, we wouldn’t have to import any. My garage roof alone generated an excess 1 MW last summer.

I'm very publicly supportive of increased electrification, but we aren't "running out" as in something that may happen,it's already here. BC's power needs will exceed our generation in 23 and 24. We needed utility scale wind/solar online years ago, but projects are unfortunately a few years away.

I don't say any of this to dissuade from electrification. It's the right policy. But a strong electrification plan includes enough electricity to meet demand and the electricians + PLTs to put the clean power to use, and BC is short on both at the moment. Correctable issues with the right choices.

Unfortunately the electric grid in the CoV is not keeping up. Wealthier neighborhoods with more heat pumps and electric cars (e.g. Kerrisdale) are already experiencing voltage drop issues.
