This is what motivates me to get my herbicide license, so I can go and kill these off myself. I had a patch on my own property and I will soon know if my efforts were successful.
Do not transplant these. If you walk through a patch, check your shoes. Check tire treads. Landscapers, check your tools

We see this migrating upland in patches too. Not sure what's driving it (sticking to critters? Squirrels digging up the bulblets?)

And it's basically extirpated the native marsh marigold that should be in those systems. Dwarf ginseng is also at high risk, as are the bluebells you mentioned.

If you or anyone you know has the ability to apply herbicides, what I tried that I think finally worked, based on a noticeable lack of bulbils present where they were once abundant:
4% aquatic safe glyphosate as soon as temps hit 55 (before 50% bloom) followed by another application 2-3 weeks later.

Obviously walk and spray close, avoiding drift. I was careful to avoid violets and dwarf cinquefoil, the two things that grew among them. Hitting the patch early first time reduces risk of foraging bees, second hit gets any bulbils germinating that were shaded by first or second layer deep

The older plants have two sets of roots. Once they're established they seem to send out a rhizome deeper into the soil where another set of bulbils form. Even if you dig out surface layer, there's more. I tried everything else, burying, setting on fire, nothing else works. Quick topkill doesn't work

Last year for me these applications were timed mid-march followed by second first or 2nd week april. They did pop up earlier since we had a warm winter. This year is cooler and I haven't spotted them yet. I know I didn't get them all.

P.S. in PA I'm able to apply this on my own property, but I can't do this on other people's properties (despite being asked for help, I'm like I wish I could, not yet). But at least I can figure out what does and doesn't work. Poverty oatgrass is dense enough to stop bulbils spreading.

I think it's sticking to critters. Could be squirrels, but I'm thinking it could also be foraging birds who pick it up thinking it's a seed, fly off and drop it. Reason being, I tend to find them under other trees where they'll land and check their spoils.

I keep trying to find the dwarf ginseng - I know it's supposed to be present in the area, and it isn't one that most people know. I sowed seed for quinquefolia, but I'd love to find seed for the dwarf too.

If you were to walk 150 yards in the direction that I was pointing the camera, those are some incredibly affluent homes. Like easily at least a million and up. This is pretty common in wild spaces that are near expensive homes.

Looks like it. And a bush honeysuckle (most likely amur) in the middle, most of everything here is invasive honestly.

I and one other individual here who works to clean up areas like this have considered approaching the office to see if we could help out with it. It's a private nonprofit that manages all this, the land was donated from many landowners in order to help keep our watershed clean. Behind me is a creek.
