Guessing why Nancy might take this tact. That committee is one that could possibly remain relatively reasonable in the coming chaotic times. She may fear a firebrand, even a capable one, may not be able to take full advantage of any sanity exhibited by the opposition.

OMG the Democrats need to seriously consider an early retirement program. We've been burned too many times by keeping the very elderly in power: Ginsberg, Biden, Feinstein, etc.

We need leaders we won't have to carry out of the building.
