twitter's algorithm keeping my art from reaching as many eyes as possible really destroyed my sense of self-worth as an artist. bluesky is slowly putting it back together again. I love this place

fr, I was in the same boat. Punished for drawing my own thing, always fighting the temptation to do popular fanart or the whatever trend was going on just to get noticed but also feeling shitty about that
at the end of the day, aren't we all just expressing ourselves to be seen?
Yeah, I hear ya. I don't draw, but I feel the art of my OC goes much farther on here. I feel people care more about my stuff, and I think that's great.
I love interacting with other people and helping to boost them.
Yeah. It was so draining to post something on twitter and only see a little bit of activity on a post for a couple hours or a day if lucky then watch it just drop off to nothing.
While stuff i posted years ago on tumblr still gets the occasional like every week or so. Bsky is feeling like that too.
For real. I've been posting art online for decades, and I haven't seen this good of engagement since my chronically online teenage deviantArt days.
I never had a big following, but I did have a few pieces do numbers back then. Twitter and Instagram were like posting into a void. This is healing!

It really has that Instagram "if you don't post your post will less likely reach others" algorithm
