In all seriousness, while I /might/ be wrong I'm not sure if Tides actually pulled any direct inspiration from FF16. Not because there certainly aren't similarities (I point some out in my recent video), but

Tide was likely in development during FF16 release and there's nothing unique FF16 did to inspire pulling from. It didn't innovate nor even fully commit to it's combat. Better would be DMC and God of War
It's just that Modern AAA game development takes a REALLY long time and having developed stuff from another game that just came out 1.5 years ago seems insanely unlikely. If it IS pulling from FF16, then a lot of it would inspiration from the trailers most likely.
The main similarity that was most noticeable to me was camera distance. FF16 always zooms out so you can see the entire enemy no matter how big they are. Very different from, say, a Soulslike, where the camera is always right behind the protag, which seems claustrophobic sometimes
its not a carbon copy, but a lot of similarities - and you have to remember that FF16 is also DMC5 which has been out forever - I saw a lot of DMC5 inspiration in the gameplay trailer so they could have had the foundation and changes simple things to breathe ff16 inspiration
Beat me to it haha, noticed it right away in the gameplay trailer because the platforming and level design looked so reminiscent to DMC5. It's also been a long enough amount of time where it feasibly could've inspired a game of this scope.
Yeah it would've been way too soon imo. If anything I see a lot of inspiration from games like DMC V and (maybe older) Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts games. Pulls from a lot of different games it seems. Looks amazing though so far, super excited for that one and Phantom Blade Zero
It's just a modern action game based on Arthurian legend. I don't think it's inspired by any one action game over another. FF16, Bayonetta, DMC, Lost Soul Aside, Dynasty Warriors, etc, are all just blending together at this point.
