I don’t think it’s a good idea. Too much of the series legacy includes the number.

I would rather they end the series and move onto something new than keep beating a dead horse.

Sure, they just need to find a new way to communicate that this is the next main entry and not a spinoff. I do believe they should either use Rebirth as the template or settle on a visual look that stays consistent

Watched the video and there are a lot of good points in there. I agree that there are so many unnumbered FF titles that to drop the number system for the mainlines would be confusing.

And there are plenty of us out there to tell the public that it’s an anthology and you can start on any number.

At this point I think it's fine? People will still say it's final fantasy numberx. Tactics was a thing. So was origins. It may follow the trend but It does freshen the series and doesn't feel so locked into WE must have a number in game. Lol
