I appreciate the clarification. It doesn't change my stance, though. This is just step one.
That being said, I understand them stopping the production of blanks. I don't know anyone that uses BR-R over cheaper DVD-R.

You are welcome! And we are all for open source here. Where our views differ: this isn't "step one". There is no conspiracy. No invisible hand. It may feel that way. BR-R aren't selling and got shut down. 4K Blu-rays are selling like crazy 🤩 As long as they keep making millions they stay. Simple! 😊
