Not sure if east Tennessee really counts as somewhere else, but it's big there too. We used to go to an "anvil shoot" for 4th of July, and clogging would be the main attraction before they launched the anvils.

I used to play bluegrass all through the Ohio Valley and it wasn't unheard of to see/hear people clogging. Even as far north as Southwest Pennsylvania.

I've heard it brought up in other parts of Appalachia but Kentucky and North Carolina have it as their official state dance, so I'm going to assume that's where it is truly a Big Deal.

That's not Pennsylvania Dutch, not by a longshot. Pennsylvania Dutch is a bastardization of Deutch, meaning German. Clogging is Appalachian Irish or Scotch Irish. It comes from Irish folk dancing and generations of inbreeding.
