This is how I want to see my country... right now hate seems like it's winning, but we can be wonderful and hopeful and awe-inspiring as a diverse nation.
Every time I encounter a service worker whose life began on another continent, I am filled with admiration for their resolve, determination, and stamina to come here, be constantly othered, and still show up and do the thing. They're inspiring and one of the things I love most about this country.
