I think I found the problem. In 1965, all nine of the Supreme Court justices were military veterans. As of 2023, Samuel Alito is the only sitting Supreme Court justice with military experience. But, he never went to Vietnam.

We know he'll never vote to benefit others.

I have a sibling who gets disability for life and he will never need to work. But that is a big problem with mental health issues related to being a veteran that saw and participated in actual combat. He’s a wayward mess. The less desirable joining the military becomes, the better.
