You know anyone in the military? My son, a pilot, did tail swaps. That's flying a repaired plane into a war zone and a broken one home. Many times, it was questionable they would get home. Parts have been in short supply for many, many years!

My father served in the army. 😏. One story of a shortage doesn’t negate that we overspend in the military. DOD contractors rip us off and AOC even said it in one of her lives. Why do we spend so much more than every other country while cutting programs for the poor and disabled.

It doesn't help that their benefits are so much better than they used to be. Back in the 90s, they paid you 85% of the average cost of housing when you lived off base. Now it's 100%. And, the housing allowance rises as rents and homeownership rises. Here in Florida, costs are skyrocketing.

It’s not even about benefits. This cr has 6 billion in extra expenses for submarines that they purchased and now suddenly don’t have the budget for. We continue to throw money at the DOD when they have NEVER passed an audit and can’t show where billions of dollars went.

I would bet that money was taken by Trump to pay for deportations.

I know the audit issue but, the DoD was never meant to be fiscally responsible. They have rotating commanders and very strange funding requirements. BTW, I went out and audited financial process at many AF MTFs before I retired.

We spend more on defense than the next 9 countries combined. Every year the military gets tens of billions more than the year prior and the money doesn’t go to our men and women in uniform. It goes to military contractors that are ripping off our country. NO MORE! Engage in diplomacy instead.

If you read the CR, 6 billion dollars are for submarines they already committed to, but ran out of money to pay the remaining money due. There is no reason we need to be spending this kind of money on these things.

Contract cost overrun? I worked in state govt. for a short time and there were regular cost overruns and they were seldom challenged despite a valid basis for doing so. Path of least resistance. Extremely frustrating— hence my quick return to the private sector.
