The total weight of the seized gold is over 10 kg, valued at ₹8.47 crore. The Customs officials made the seizures in four separate operations, with the first three involving private airport staff members. In the first operation, a private staffer was intercepted and found to be carrying 2.
8 kg of 24-karat gold dust in wax form, valued at ₹2.27 crore. In the second operation, another private staffer was found to be carrying 2.9 kg of pure gold dust in wax form, valued at ₹2.36 crore. In the third operation, a private staffer was found to be carrying 1.
6 kg of 24-karat gold dust in wax form, valued at ₹1.31 crore. In the fourth operation, Customs officers found 3.1 kg of pure gold dust in wax form, valued at ₹2.53 crore, in garbage bags containing trash from an international flight's lavatories and pantry. Further investigation is underway.
