AI could actually be very useful in film restoration. Smaller, less famous films are never going to have someone clean up the scratches and mildew spots but an AI program (overseen by humans, of course) could work wonders.

There is a learning curve for watching silent films but maybe we can talk though it without vandalizing the original product, hmm?
If someone wants to restore old tints or even original hand-color, I support them entirely.
And we can clearly see a path between that attitude and AI.
Who are these people who are so basic that black and white baffles them but who are going to be totally cool about everything else that makes these movies "intolerably old" in their eyes?
