Domain verification is mainly useful for businesses as far as I can tell. They'll already have it.

Will need a dif strategy for individuals in the long term.

Suggestion for the badge is to parse the web ico on the domain and apply it as the site badge and parse web ico with pron/illegal check. 👍🏿

I followed that verbatim when I joined and the process went flawlessly. Now that I understand AT proto a little better i love the simplicity of the solution. People can still impersonate by registering domains in others' names though. Any thoughts on that?

Sometimes Wikipedia can be a source of validation but then the question is how did they validate the domain?

A reputation system can mitigate this a lot.

Fortunately, domains already work well enough for the web to operate effectively, despite the very real issues that exist there too.

The EU, and some other countries, are bringing the underlying tech to wallets that have strong, national ID capabilities. There's this long-time dispute whether or not EU member states should be able to grant verified business certificates (from business registry) to domains too. Logins is usecasa.

Multiple users can use a subdomain of the same domain but not the exact same domain as a handle.

https://user1.example.com and https://user2.example.com is okay

https://user1.example.com and https://example.com is okay

but both can't use the identical domain
