This code seems untouched in 9 years, and it's part of the Seastar framework which is an awesome system.

I'm just disabling hyper threading (SMT), which I expected to do for a better CPU:RAM ratio anyway, so no big deal!

Haha, seems like a copy of old Linux limit CONFIG_NR_CPUS from 9 years ago... Which right now is set to 8192, but some distros have it on like 512... Its interesting because when creating threads and pinning to cores with affinity three is no such limit. AMD Bergamo 2 cpus x 128 cores x2 ht... Ops

Ah yes, like when Bill wrote MS-DOS and didn't allow for more than 1MB of physical memory because that was way more than ever needed to run a programme.
Not to mention the expense, no one could afford a PC with a megabyte of memory.
