They also feared parties. Social media and gerrymandering finally brought that fear to full fruition because it made the country smaller and made every race more vulnerable to national political pressures instead of local issues.

We didn't kick Trumper friends & family to the curb after birtherism and "grab them by the pussy, they let you do it." We coddled them, forgave them in advance, invited them to the usual social functions. This was permission.
