I’m trying to branch out. I pretty much just play Slaves to Darkness and Lumineth Realm-Lords. What’s an interesting army to play in 4th? Pretty much just based on gameplay. I would suggest destruction to widen out - In my head Gitz have the widest collection and are in a reasonably good place currently. Although if you are looking for a smaller project I would suggest Stormcast - new book looks solid, not many models and a really good second hand market.

My fear with SCE is that they will just keep getting range rotated, but I do think the models from 3rd ed and forward have been really appealing. Gitz? I was really impressed when I played against them recently (pre-nerf trolls). Not sure if the aesthetic is 100% my jam though.

Is always the risk with SCE - but at least they are super quick to paint, second hand market, and they are not always hyping the new. For instance Yanastra is now cool and so are Palladors are really strong. Aesthetic is always a solid reason not to do something!

Sylvaneth are interesting, fairly powerful now. Khorne are still powerful, but very unforgiving. If you want to avoid hitting on 4s that’s Destro out 😅

Had Ironjawz been in a bit of a better spot ruleswise they would be my go to Destruction army.
I do have a Sylvaneth army. Been tempted to play them more so I probably should. What about Khorne? A lot of people seem kinda down on them but I haven’t given them a good look.

Yeah I understand, they're not everybody's vibe. I think they're one of the more "niche" factions and sort of require that you have a special interest in them.

It does feel like we’re in that in between spot where books need to come out and add more flavour to armies as there’s not loads of difference in play style (apart from what you hit or wound on) in the middle of the pack

Not all that hopeful for much added build diversity in the early books after the first couple of books, but I suppose we’ll see. I have some hopes for the Legion of the First Prince army of renown in the S2D book.
