Blackburn employed some classic dark arts during yesterday’s game and John Eustace’s side executed their plan very effectively.

There were 95 stoppages and the longest ball in-play sequence was 01:56. Langford added an additional 16:52 in total.
Goal Kicks: 00:00 (0) - 07.13 (12)
Free Kicks: 04:30 (15) - 06.57 (9)
Throw Ins: 04:29 (24) - 12.58 (16)
Corners: 03:58 (8) - 01.50 (3)
Other: 05:42 - 04:04
Despite taking 7 fewer free-kicks than Leeds, Blackburn wasted 2 minutes and 27 seconds more than Daniel Farke’s side.
There wasn’t too much difference over corners. Leeds wasted an average of 30 seconds per corner and Blackburn 37 seconds.
So in terms of total time wasted it breaks down as Leeds (18:39) and Blackburn (33:02). That’s 14 minutes, 23 seconds more than Leeds.
So a pretty sizeable difference. Not my cup of tea but fair play to them as it worked a treat. #LUFC
The throw ins stat is scandalous.
I wish the powers that be would take note of things like this.
For me this validates a view that I've held for a long time, that we should move from "running time" to a countdown that stops when the ball isnt in play.
As a fan these games are currently a real turn off and bad advert for the sport.
If there is to be a big impact on the time wasting, the ref needs to book as early as the first half.
I've said elsewhere on here, it shouldn't be hard...if refs communicate with players when they're close to the line and then book anyone that oversteps (even if they're on a yellow) then it's entirely on the player's heads
