In my career teaching I met a handful of boys that we all knew were going bad and that we were powerless to help. The results were one serious GBH, one extensive arson luckily without loss of life, one kidnapping and extortion with ABH, and a double rape. None were terrorists. No help available.

How does this differ from a psychopath? Isn't it just murderous intent if there is no ideology? Are we simply labelling Rudakubana a terrorist bc he isn't white?

For some time now there has been a debate in extremism studies on what role ideology plays. What comes first can vary: violence, ideology, in-group, grievance, mental health etc. Peter Neuman has some good illustrations on this.
