Sometime in the late '70s a gaggle of us who were HE fans drove to a science fiction convention where Mr. Ellison was the guest writer. The first night there was a get together in a hotel suite and Mr. Ellison was there, sitting on the patio. 1

A bunch of us were sitting around him, asking question. I asked politely if he wasn't in fact too harsh on TV's capabilities (in "The Glass Teat" and other articles) and the possibilities of the medium. 2
This seemed to have angered him royally, and he proceeded to get very heated, and ended the little chat.

when he referenced my question in his closing speech at the convention in a long screed - much to the amusement of my friends. Needless to say, I did not seek an autograph. -end-
