I once paid $300 for a pair of patent leather tux shoes. They came with cedar shoe trees inside them and individual cloth bags with draw strings.

Patent leather never breaks in. It's your feet that have to change. Any photo of me at a black-tie event: I'm in tears.

Thankfully, somebody stole them.
