Im one of them. I vividly recall the overt/covert/official and unofficial hate in my indoctrination. And I accepted it. Sometimes enthusiastically, sometimes regretfully as an unfortunate matter of duty or unavoidable reality. Eventually, I examined my beliefs and held myself accountable for them.

Yes. That needs to happen but it isn't encouraged because a certain population benefits from preventing it. We are making the same point. Actions need to be addressed but we also have to look at how we got here.

Even with my "broken brain," I was able to crawl from the muck. Not without trials, loss, and much effort. My point is that I was able to do so without first dismantling the entire machine. An action you assert is prerequisite for self growth. Growth only requires self-integrity and self-patience.

In a simplified way for myself, it was having integrity when questioning my own deeeply held beliefs. All my political, national, and spiritual identities were fair game. And a willingness to lose people who were unable to do the same or tolerate the changes that followed. I even stopped drinking.
