As a prof. artist that works incredibly hard to create works to the best of my ability, but also prove out that work by sharing process videos & stills to back up work I paint 100% from life. In the winter I work from photos—I took myself—but I never try to hide that. 2/7

So when it comes to AI used to create reference, or in the case of this artist representing her works as original creations, that is a solid hell no from me. The fact that these works were entered into & won awards in several reputable juried competitions... 3/7

where artists pay a LOT in entry fees is f*cking infuriating. I’ve entered these, spent a ton of money and was never selected. C’est la vie.

For an AI creation to be selected for a prize is a giant slap in the face. 4/7

Value in an artist’s work is built over time with hard work & authenticity in the development of their skills & unique creative voice.

AI cannot replicate that. AI ‘art’ is built on the theft of actual working artist’s creations. 5/7

It’s frustrating that AI works have made it through jurying processes, but my anger is directed to those shamelessly creating them & trying to pass them off as actual paintings. 6/7

Cheating the system, bypassing the years of dedication and learning it takes to develop one’s skills, and scamming unknowing collectors by trying to pass AI ‘creations’ off as real artworks (and sell them for a lot of money) should be a crime. 7/7

The fees for the ARC Salon are the highest I've paid by far as well. Especially if you want to enter a piece in multiple applicable categories. Huge slap in the face is right.

A.R.C. has done a lot for traditional realism so it is disappointing that obvious AI works are making it through but for the people scamming collectors, and the art world, with this crap is infuriating.

It's inconceivable that one, let alone ALL of the 'jurors' (some of whom were actual USERS OF AI), only retracted when a furious REAL artist showing obvious AI 'tells' in the work, went viral. These 'jurors' knew the piece was derived from AI. Corruption everywhere, and real artists pay the price.

There’s nothing indicating the jurors knew it was AI, however, that being said, there is no way with the level of experience amongst the jurors that is should have gotten through, let alone in other competitions.
