As a Welsh person, I totally get it, absolutely refuse to call it anything other than Denali. Even the Govr reaffirmed it.
Here, Eryri, will always be Snowdonia to everyone else, but a nod to Google, the “Brecon Beacons” is harder to find, since the Welsh name was made official🏴🫶 #Heritage #YmaOHyd

Exactly! Weather stopped me twice. This week of the year always reminds me of that fact. In 1999, I was at the Australian #F1 Grand Prix. All by myself! Yet I haven’t climbed Wales’ highest mountain, which is literally “just down the road” from me!

It’s the 6th deadliest summit on the globe. Beautiful yes, peaceful ? 9 deaths per 100 successful summits. Humans survive lightning strikes about as often.
This is a photo taken from Wonder Lake. I worked very close to this spot for a summer, in the Kantishna foothills, inside Denali National Park. It's a very magical place. This was well before the official name change from McKinley, and EVERYONE called it Denali back then. It means The Great One.
Beautiful! I was there in 2006 when it was named Mount McKinley. Since then, the name has been changed back and forth a few times. Since it originally was named Denali by the Athabaskan people before the US purchased Alaska from Russia in 1867,
