I imagine there were other Senate Democrats that would have voted yes if Schumer did not have the votes. The same kind of game that Susan Collins plays when there is a controversial vote usually she says no because she knows the have enough votes to pass it.

Right now, the courts can push back because he's not spending money appropriated by Congress. Without a CR, the argument is that he would get to cut literally everything "non-essential" -- and he gets to decide what's non-essential.

No, I don’t. He and Musk are already doing that. Now the cuts they make will be legal because Congress approved them. Regardless, the only acceptable Democratic position toward this administration is opposition.
