I grew up attending Michigan public schools in the 1970s, when the good citizens refused to pass school funding increases, so I only had 5 periods my lat two years of HS. I never took a single history class, period. Fortunately I know how to study on my own.

Reading books by Black authors is one way to fill in the educational gap. I started with Toni Morrison, and learned of the educational vacuum of enslaving African Americans. Generational trauma is real, and yes, reparations are necessary to both descendants of slaves *and* Native Americans.
