"Grok" literally translates to "to drink" (I did have to look that up. It's been awhile since I've read the book. But I did remember it translated into English but the "concept" of Grok didn't have a direct translation so "To drink" was the closest. So like drinking in someone's understanding.

It's widely misused by people who pretend to read Heinlein but never actually did. Or if they did they obviously didn't absorb anything. "Grok" is supposed to be used to show a deep understanding. It comes from Stranger in a Strange Land. A martian introduces the idea to earthlings.
