I’ve been having a lot of fun lately learning how to build and manage routers, but at the same time, I was shocked to discover that depending on how you use them, they can easily intercept user information.

Back in the day I learned about mirror ports. I went to one of our remote buildings mirrored there egress port. I wrote a piece of pearl to pull out web requests. If they were an image to display it on a web page that just infinitely scrolled. People do unexpected things when nobody's looking
I've recently been working more frequently with audio and lighting equipment that rely on network connections, so while setting up an environment that can easily access the internet, I also had to organize separate networks for each section needed by the entire event group.
Ohh they can be fun and dangerous. It was a big thing a few years ago to use raspberry pi's to mirror free access points and collect any data being transferred through it.

Open source router os with lots of hardware support. You wanna packet shape!? Have fun 😊
It was necessary to be able to perform those operations. This included remote control of the iPad to the sound mixer.
