Shakespeare's life is probably the best documented life of an early modern writer, except perhaps Ben Jonson, who left extensive autobiographical records (e.g. his commonplace book Timber) & records from his arrests. Oh, if only Shakespeare had killed a man in a duel and gotten arrested for a play.
