It's a lot for any kind of protest in Munich, a city of 1.3m people. It's not the capital and, unless things have changed a lot in the last 20 years, I wouldn't imagine the pull would have been geographically too wide. Someone mentioned there were big protests in other cities the same day.

Just to add, Munich isn't representative of all of Germany in this. For decades it has been a leftwing enclave in the very conservative state of Bavaria (of which it is the capital). I think having a right wing state government bang in the middle of a left wing city created a culture of protests.

This was only Munich last Saturday. There were more demonstrations on both days of the weekend in all of Germany. The weekend before, there were demonstrations of similar sizes in other German cities like Hamburg, for example. Summed up ca. 1.3 - 1.5 million.

I was not making a criticism, just pointing out the size of Germany. I used to work with scientists in Waldbronn, Baden-Würrtemberg and spent summers in Speyer in middle and high school. Had many conversations about alt right and Nazism over the years, they will never let that happen again.
