When I was able to put bananas out at the feeder here last year, I had a neighbor Tayra that would visit every morning for breakfast. Unfortunately, the capuchins put an end to that fun!

They're a bit intimidating. Very muscular, excellent climbers, and very sleek as they glide through the forest. I always get a bit of a chill when I see one. There's something very primal about them.

Interestingly, the Tayra I see at Tapir Valley are very wary and shy and always run away. But I have one in my yard that's more used to humans and just likes to steal my bananas.

They're omnivores, and they love to eat baby birds.
