The problem is, demand varies by hour, by day, week, month.. If it is dark solar does not work, if it is not windy you cannot increase the output of wind turbines. A real solution IMHO is nuclear for base load, renwables, and gas with carbon capture to flex to meet demand.

Nuclear energy is the only real solution. Solar requires a huge land area and energy storage, which has its own problems. AI energy usage will only keep growing, and the grid is already barely keeping up.

Fossil fuels crested such an addiction because they fuel the vehicles that make us feel invincible and invulnerable. They've provided benefits but at such a cost to society. We have concreted and tarmacked over so much land, poisoned the very air we need to breathe and the alternatives are there.

People are most definitely strange. In the past when I've talked to people about it i seem to have been speaking in tongues. I point out the sun doesn't charge us for its energy (or at least in monetary terms) nor the tides or the wind, once the initial cost is paid, it's just maintenance.

Can't see the big energy companies investing in fossils in the US when it could all be taxed heavily on 4 years. They need a long investing strategy and I suspect that the pivot into renewable energy is unstoppable.
