Have you ever made an agarose gel in the field with NO microwave?
We tested 4 different ways of running gels without access to a microwave. See our full results in the link below.
Whether you're in the field, running an outreach event, or making do, there are plenty of clever workarounds.

Here are 4 options that we tried:
1️⃣ Rice cookers: Compact, safe, and perfect for melting agarose in a water bath.
2️⃣ Camping stoves: A long-handled pot makes this a surprisingly easy solution.
3️⃣ Pre-cast gels: Prep ahead and store for weeks.
4️⃣ E-Gels: Reliable, long shelf-life, but pricier.
Who has tried something different? We’d love to hear other ideas!
