The New Mexico Department of Health declared a measles outbreak in a southeastern New Mexico county. Cases had previously been detected in a neighboring Texas county.

Don't get me wrong - people have had very serious adverse reactions to vaccines, which is awful, but no medicine is 100% safe for 100% of people.

Measles is very contagious and no fun. My brothers and I had measles in probably 1952 or so, before vaccines, and even though I was quite young, 5 or 6, I remember the darkened room and being almost delirious with fever.

Smallpox has been eradicated worldwide, so that won't reemerge; polio, though? On the increase in the US, as is bloody measles.
There's been an increase in the number of whooping-cough cases in the UK, so we're not immune to idiocy either.

Absolutely spot-on David Nice. Millions of households across the US have an empty chair around their table. A constant reminder of their loss. Knowing so many died alone is incredibly sad for their loved ones. People still grieve
