What was the customer use case to log in as a user? If to install apps why not to use https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/autopilot/pre-provision

I had a use case a while back where this was needed. The customer was using a third-party federation on their Entra ID login which made signing in with UPN and password impossible. So I used Web sign-in and TAP to make sure the user could sign in. This in combo with Windows Hello for Business.

TAP also has the advantage that you can already deploy user-specific configurations to a device without needing passwords. You can deploy your device with pre-provisioning, but as soon as the user logs in, user-specific settings still need to come through. With using TAP this can be covered. #imho

I see. The ability to impersonate a user shouldn't be used lightly. Installing some SW in user space seems like a security overkill to me. But as always it depends on the environment.
