There's a certain type of WoW roleplayer who sees themselves as some sort of great auteur, doing *collaborative storytelling* and not *escapist* **roleplaying** like some kind of loser, and they always suck and probably huff their own farts.

It's the people who keep themselves in a knit circle of their Discord friends of 10 years where the purported collaboration takes place - then, stepping into a public scene and forgetting to turn down their obsession with their skrimbloes because now they're playing pretend with strangers again.
Collaborative storytelling is a term that seems to mean something, but it is always used by the most horrid para-social types unable to discuss anything properly. What a prospect
I love WoW RP, and I guess technically you could call it collaborative storytelling, but it's a lot closer to being the digital version of playing D&D than it is to writing a novel.
I agree, and it feels like many people forget that part. Had enough with a certain set of people in ocassions taking 15 minutes for 7 paragraph emotes in the middle of a campaign.
Having 3 hours to run an event. 75% of event is me waiting around on 6-7 paragraph descriptions on everything. Accomplishing half of what I wanted to get done that night. Because their are 10 or so people involved who mostly share this mindset.
Ha, I think a good rule of thumb as far as events go is: However long you expect something to take, expect your players to spend more time on it than that. But yeah, those people sound like they should start work on a novel instead.
Yeah that's how I started feeling after a while which ended up contributing to my leaving said group. Sometimes as an older player I also just feel the "I'm getting too old for this shit."quote hard lol

Sort of turned me off running events.
