We still have things to learn—that’s why Trump is back—and by “we” I don’t just mean MAGAts. Unless and until we get it, he’s going to continue his destruction.
Those were different times. Our world was run by people that went through the Great Depression and WW2. They understood you survive by working together. We’ve lost that generational experience, so now we have to learn it the hard way, again.
Religion is harmful in many ways. We need to keep educating & informing people of the harm that it does. Biblical texts have been the backbone of Patriarchy. We need to break it once & for all!
Sagan died in '96, anything that he saw as "starting" in his life doesn't seem to have completed, so what should we do with this information? If we're still becoming one connected planet/race, then how much longer until we're done becoming that? Asking for the humans in Gaza running out of time...

Not his fault. Virtually all people of genius that the public has known have been geniuses in particular fields of study; not about everything. Many people did not, and still do not know a great deal about genetic psychopaths & how they make people into psychopaths by proxy.
Yes, I don’t mean to condemn Sagan for his prognostication. I also felt that social progress was inevitable. I was wrong too because I also had an optimistic view of United States’s voters. We were wrong.
Those in power never relinquish it without a struggle. That was Sagan’s - and my - mistake.
Did not age well. Unfortunately. Bet if he had a chance to rewrite he'd argue along the lines of having to remove the cancer - in this case the evolutionary throwbacks - to make the organism healthy as well as keep it evolving.
I doubt that. Carl Sagan believed in education and civility. He would have favored teaching and reaching whoever he could.
In any case, the number of people who see the world as a single organism *is* growing, just as he said. So I'd say it's as poignant today as when he said it.
Hard to say since we can't ask him. But the number *is* growing. On t/other hand, the individuals in a species do not evolve in lockstep - some are in advance of others, which is what pushes a species in a new direction. Sometimes, however, the "less advanced" members can do great harm on t/way out.

And talking about the "less advanced" as being a cancer to be removed is kinda…
I don't want to argue with you man. But there's zero chance Sagan would be with you on that.
But still hoping 💚🙏🏻💚
