There's something more general here I can't quite put my finger on that feels gross, an increasing prioritization of "vibes" over storytelling that feeds into the AI hype. Storytelling is complex, emotional, human, hard to fake. But vibes? You can generate some pixels to fake that.

Would you love me if I was a worm?
we are witnessing its commoditization
being sliced and sutured and crushed and split open until the the thing’s heart is able to fit into a box and sold to a dead eyed consumer by a soulless machine piloted by ghouls
the soul will be rented back to us at 9.99 a month
the best "vibes" tell a story better than a thousand words, it's like seeing a really good painting or a great scenary
genuine vibes come from a creator who knows what they want and deliberately create something to generate them
media that thrives on vibes (still reductive, but you know what I mean) is still extremely deliberate and thought-out
