right? if you throw up a middle-finger, or a "peace" or "love" or "rock and roll" hand sign, nobody is going to be like, "i wonder if they meant anything by that." there's a reason the stiff-arm has been stigmatized in polite society... it's a specific gesture with a well-established meaning.

This is like the ten years NYT and others took to use the word lie - like, “We can’t know if Mr. Bannon holds Nazi thoughts in his head/heart” so we can only say it resembles that hideous violent gesture and he is just rudely trolling, nothing more.
