As someone who grew up drawing before digital art was really a thing (and hasn’t kept up, sadly) this was really interesting to watch! My process was inverted to yours, as I didn’t have the flexibility to move whole elements around after drawing them on the page. Thank you for sharing!
My roots are also in traditional media and I used to draw with pencils and inks a lot before I bought my first drawing tablet. But yeah making changes and adjustments is definitely much more flexible in digital art. I’m glad you found this interesting!
If something works for you then yeah do that by all means. But as a disclaimer, I almost always also start my sketches by blocking out the major geometric shapes first. And I still did that with the most parts of this piece as well. But I often start with the face and the eyes no matter what I draw.
This is the whole process from start to finish, but I had very clear idea in my head for this character so in a way I made the ”thumbnails” in my mind before I started drawing. I would make proper thumbnails for more complex drawings though.
The word "procreate" means to reproduce or generate offspring, typically referring to the biological process of producing children or young. It is often used in the context of living organisms and is particularly common in discussions about human or animal reproduction.

I like it.
Still do it though.
(This is a compliment I swear.)
