I think, some people who can’t help themselves, who didn’t help Ukrainians for the 8 years before 2022, found themselves a convenient way to score easy social points with their “volunteering” work, once again occupying a political niche of “friends” that Ukrainians need to fill with others.

Furthermore, as mentioned, there’s a misunderstanding about trust – which shouldn’t be confused with politeness – especially during times of war. Help is rarely offered unconditionally, and those who truly intend to help will not take offense at others’ guardedness and precaution.

I've seen firsthand how "liberals" take advantage of refugees. A very close friend ended up in a horrible situation because of those virtue signalling pricks

Same. Especially notable, in my experience, have been Russian psychologists.
I find it to be occupational behavior in its essence - to superiority impose themselves on others. First it’s “help,” that hasn’t been requested, next it’s aggression. I don’t trust it not to be brainwashing.
