Dyson's books on the history of technology — covering topics from early computing to the evolution of artificial intelligence — have been lauded by outlets from The Guardian to The New York Times.
Since 1989, the former Dick's Tavern in downtown Bellingham has served as George's workshops, where he designed and built skin-on-frame kayaks called baidarkas.
Some might consider science history and kayak-building to be opposite worlds. But for George, the separation between academics and practical engineering isn’t cut-and-dry.
