I think most of Trump's supporters were not tricked, per se. They've been groomed their entire life to follow a dictator (god), and the more evangelical the more distorted their view of god is. Not that some weren't tricked (I've seen your response on YT), but I think groomed is a better word.

I enjoy watching street epistemology videos by Anthony Magnabosco on YouTube. I've been trying hard to implement his method now whenever I talk to people about their beliefs. I love it when they say, "Wow, I've never thought about that. I'm going to need to think about it and get back to you."

Anthony Magnabosco does what you're talking about. He asks people questions in a non-confrontational way to get them to think. Asking questions is definitely more effective at getting people to change their beliefs than hammering them with facts and telling them why they're wrong.

I wrote a comment that I believe was thoughtful and unoffensive, yet it disappeared without a trace. YT comments can be bloody frustrating. No transparency at all!
