I wasn't politically conscious (or even had conscious memories) for Reagan and Bush Sr., but I understand there was a recession. Dubya: the economy crashed so hard we gave it a name. Trump: plague, then recession.
Conservatism by its very nature is an attitude of shunning change & making sure 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 life is comfortable.
Folks with that mindset are going to budget differently than those who encourage change & are willing to leave the comfort zone.
