In 2024, the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) presented a budget of almost a billion dollars ($980 million).

This year's proposed budget is even higher as they are managed by the former police chief.

How many people almost a billion dollars could house for just six months in Detroit, with no supportive services, in culturally appropriate and not isolated areas, and what could be the myriad public benefits in the long-term. In this "city" where a quality affordable home of any sort is so scarce.

Yesterday, despite 200 or so public comments, the directors at the Great Lakes Water Authority voted to raise water and sewerage rates for their customers in SE Michigan (about 3.9 million residents!).

Voices were heard and rates were lowered than initially proposed.
