The money to the defense contractors pays for people’s jobs. That’s part of why it’s so hard to unwind. Congressional reps don’t like it when factories close in their district.

You are so deluded into thinking most of that goes to the employees of a war crime machine? lol bro most of it goes in the share holders’ hands not people.
More to the point, if Kirtland AFB shut down, Albuquerque would collapse. If Albuquerque collapsed, so would New Mexico. Employees may not get their fair share, but it's DoD related jobs are still irreplaceable
Also I think the post-Cold War drawn is over all good, just like I think not subsidizing Israel’s wars are good. However it’s not free weapons to kill kids, it’s something all Americans benefit materially from and therefore have complicity.
And when we restructure national spending, it needs to be done *very* carefully. And don't lie to people about what it means for their lives and livelihoods
